Polyester and cotton canvas also differ slightly in texture and color, which affects their overall look and feel.
Cotton canvas tends to be heavier, usually around 300 grams per square meter (g/m²). It's mostly made from natural fibers, with about 99% cotton and a small amount, around 1%, of polyester. This mix gives cotton canvas a sturdy yet breathable quality, making it a popular choice when durability and a natural feel are important.
Polyester canvas, on the other hand, is lighter, weighing about 220 grams per square meter. It's made entirely from synthetic fibers, being 100% polyester. This gives polyester canvas a smoother texture, generally brighter color retention, and better resistance to water and stretching compared to cotton canvas.
